Notalune. Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-07-12

1. What Notalune is

Notalune is a tool that runs entirely on your device. It photographs printed sheet music you point it at, overlays note names for your personal study, and stores the results only on your device. Notalune has no servers: it never receives, hosts, transmits, or distributes your photos or annotations. In this respect it is like a camera and a pencil.

2. Your content, your responsibility

3. No liability for user infringement

Notalune (daylight.studio) provides a general-purpose annotation tool with substantial lawful uses. We do not monitor, receive, or control what you scan, and we accept no responsibility or liability for copyright infringement or other unlawful acts committed by users with the app. If you use Notalune with content you have no rights to, that is your choice and your liability.

4. Reading accuracy

Note names are produced by on-device recognition and may be incomplete or wrong. Notalune deliberately leaves uncertain notes blank. The output is a study aid, not an authoritative edition; verify against your score.

5. Free tier and Notalune Pro

Notalune Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Apple; payments, refunds, and Family Sharing follow Apple's App Store terms. The free tier includes the complete reading and correction tools, the full metronome, and practice (training) mode, with these limits (current as of this version; the app's paywall screen is authoritative):

Notalune Pro removes all of the above limits permanently. No subscription.

6. Privacy and the optional improvement program

Notalune collects no data. See the privacy policy at https://notalune.com/privacy.

The optional, off-by-default "Help improve recognition" feature stores small image crops of your corrections locally on your device; nothing is transmitted automatically. If you choose to send us these crops manually (via the share sheet), you confirm that you may lawfully share the photographed material with us for this purpose (see Section 2), and you grant us the right to use the submitted crops solely to develop and improve Notalune's on-device recognition. We do not publish or redistribute submitted crops, and we delete them from our working set once incorporated into training (details and your GDPR rights: privacy policy, section 5).

7. Changes

We may update these terms; the current version is always at https://notalune.com/terms. Continued use after a change means acceptance.
